How the Competition Works:

ROUND 1:

Each contestant submitted a 60-second intro pitch video attached to the application, which was used by our selection committee to narrow the field to 10 regional semi-finalists. Those chosen as semi-finalists will compete in the virtual regional competition on August 15.

ROUND 2:

Each contestant must present a 3-minute pitch LIVE on Zoom in front of a panel of 5 judges. All must meet the pitch criteria listed below. From this round, 4 will advance to the national competition!

Pitch Criteria

Participants must fit the following criteria:

  • Entry video is 1 minute for Round 1, and virtual live pitch is 3 minutes.
  • Pitch must focus on communicating the company’s story in a creative and compelling way.
  • Entries must focus on an existing product, service or business solution that is currently in the market or ready for market (not a future idea or endeavor).
  • Presenter must be a female owner of the company.
  • Participant must be a WBENC-Certified WBE whose certification is in good standing.
  • If the solution is the result of a joint venture between multiple WBE companies or if the business has more than one female owner, the application must be submitted on behalf of only one of the WBE companies or owners. Only one WBE will be permitted to pitch in each round, and it will need to be the same WBE in each round.

Judging Criteria

The 2025 Virtual Regional Pitch Competition contestants will be judged based on the following elements in their pitches. For more information about the National Semi-Finals, visit the WBENC website
